About the Course

This training course has been specifically tailored to the non-technical audience and/or professionals who may have formal education in a different discipline, but need to gain a high level understanding of the rapidly changing world of the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) industry.

The course has a techno-economic orientation; identifying the capital costs to invest in, to use, and to apply these newer technologies. It is ideally suited to those who are either recipients of ICT services, or seek to provide products or services (such as in finance or media/ communications), or simply those seeking to understand and invest in the growth potential of the ICT industry.

It provides a basic understanding of ICT networks, networks and services and their technologies. It covers the basic principle of access, telecom network switching, transmission network, and signaling systems, and they will be used to support the emerging Next Generation services.

This course has a unique approach, concentrating on fundamental principles in an “overview mode” and then a progressive build-up, detailed knowledge of each component. (as opposed to other generic courses which tend to be “bottom up” ie. plough through a lot of details to get to the point).
